Grading & Erosion Control Plans

Preparation of erosion control plans is required for any new residence or additions exceeding 2500 sq. ft of land disturbance. A full topographic survey, land records research, and contouring are standard features. Most instances require landscaping planning as well.
The scope may vary greatly depending on the topography, hydrological and environmental issues. Infiltration tests and BMP design are required when impervious area percentage exceeds that allowed by the Chesapeake Bay Ordinance.

Residential Design

This category includes new residences fully engineered by AEG with the exception of grading plans in the scope. Additional work orders requested often include: setting house corners, performing additional topographic surveys for incidental retaining walls, and carrying out mandatory third party inspections either for special soil conditions or design changes.

Residential Design & Grading Plans

The following are the most representative projects developed by AEG in the category of new house full design package, including grading and erosion control plans. AEG was able to successfully deliver on time despite substantial topographical and environmental challenges, such as critical slope, a ravine diagonally splitting the lot, and the lot being in a very low spot in the subdivision.

Residential Additions

This category of work requires a great deal of imagination and capability to visualize the potential of an existing structure.

New House on Existing Foundation

A project encompassing a new residence using an existing foundation has to meet all the requirements for a new house, except for the grading plans. If the existing basement, footing or slab on ground are in sound structural condition and can be re-used, this represents a substantial savings in construction cost and time. However, for the engineers, this type of endeavor demands high skill and experience in structural detailing. Our staff has years of experience in innovative detailing methods that have been developed in-house.
